The International Congress Center Burgas will host a two-day event that will bring together game creators, tech companies, students, and creative communities through lectures, an expo zone, a cosplay program, and a VR hackathon.
On June 27 and 28, 2025, the International Congress Center in Burgas will welcome the first edition of the Black Sea Game Summit (BSGS) – a two-day conference dedicated to game development, immersive technologies (VR/AR/XR), and the creative industries. The event is organized by CreaTech Bulgaria in partnership with the Municipality of Burgas, with the clear ambition to turn the city into the new regional hub for game dev professionals, studios, and young talents.
BSGS will bring together leading representatives from game studios, tech companies, educational institutions, and game creators from Bulgaria and the region. The event will feature inspiring talks and panels, hands-on workshops, and an expo area with indie developers and innovative tech projects. A special emphasis will be placed on gaming culture, including a cosplay competition, meetups with top gaming influencers in Bulgaria, and a gaming zone.
“With the first edition of the Black Sea Game Summit, we are launching a long-term vision – to position Burgas and Bulgaria as an active center of gaming and the creative industries in the region. We believe that through events like this, we can not only build connections between professionals but also attract investment, talent, and attention to Southeastern Europe as a place for innovation and growth,” shares Genoveva Hristova-Murray, Chair of CreaTech Bulgaria – the first creative industries cluster in Bulgaria.
The Indie Zone of the Black Sea Game Summit 2025 will be the heart of the event – a space where independent game developers from Bulgaria and the region will present their projects to a wide audience, professionals, and potential partners. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase prototypes, finished games, and interactive experiences, as well as receive feedback, build new connections, and attract attention to their ideas.
Immediately prior to the conference, on June 25 and 26, the VR Hackathon 2025 will take place – organized by The Knowledge Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and supported by the Municipality of Burgas. The hackathon will bring together young developers, digital creators, and tech innovators to work on creating VR solutions with positive social impact. The finalists will be awarded during the official ceremony of the Black Sea Game Summit, hosted by CreaTech Bulgaria.
